Two important aspects of any healing process is education and developing self awareness. What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and how does it relate to childhood abuse? What are the common symptoms and how do they affect our minds and bodies? What are some techniques used to either lessen or heal the core injury? These are just a few of the questions we answer while working through this process.
How do we educate and develop awareness? We read, we ask questions, we sit with our peers and share our experience, strength and hope. All of this begins the process of clearing away that foggy sense of guilt, shame and remorse. We discover direct relationships between the abuse that occurred to us as children and how it now affects the way we interpret our environment and relationships as adults. This is a proactive process of self discovery.
